This is an incredible opportunity for those interested in learning from one of the masters of garden photography in the wonderful setting of the recently completed gardens at Raby Castle. Clive Nichols is widely recognised as Britain’s best garden photographer and one of the finest in the world with over twenty years of experience shooting some of the most iconic gardens around the UK and across the globe. His work has been published in hundreds of books and magazines and his hugely successful latest book Brilliant English Gardens by Clearview Books is a must-have for garden lovers and budding photographers alike.
We are privileged to have Clive delivering a masterclass for us in the gardens designed by Alistair W Baldwin and Luciano Giubbilei at Raby Castle as part of hugely popular The Rising project. The masterclass will begin with Clive taking us through some of his work by way of an illustrated talk after which he will share his technical know-how to help you get the most out of your camera, from shutter speed to the all important settings and exposures. We will spend time in the gardens with Clive as you put your new knowledge into practice, capturing the beautiful planting, historic buildings and textures across the 20-acre site.
A delicious lunch will be provided in the High Vinery restaurant where you will have the chance to chat with Clive and Alistair Baldwin, along with tea and coffee in the mid-afternoon. The afternoon will include a chat with Clive about post-production of your photos and how you can use software to bring the absolute best out of your pictures. The day extends to 6pm to allow us to capture the gardens in the low late afternoon light.
You will need to bring a camera that you are familiar with, which will ideally be an SLR. We will send you an equipment list in advance of the masterclass to help you prepare.
