Whether you’re an aspiring garden designer with an ambition to join the profession, a self-employed gardener looking to add a design string to your bow, or a keen amateur home gardener with an eye on improving your own plot, this popular course is a great introduction to the art and practice of creating gardens.
During three fun and illuminating days in our teaching studio in Ripon we will delve into the process of transforming a garden from the ways in which we look at a site, how we develop ideas and get the creative process going using drawing techniques, to clever ways of planning a garden and innovative and practical approaches to designing with hard materials and plants.
Our careful blend of inspiring lectures and practical exercises means you will leave with a head full of ideas, a design for a small garden and a really good feel for what’s involved in transforming a plot.
No previous experience or drawing skills are required for this course, just a keenness to learn and a passion for creativity. We provide paper and drawing media and you will have special access to the YSGD library as well as our large format plotter for scanning and printing your drawings. Free tea and coffee will be available through the day in the teaching studio, and we ask that folks bring lunch with them each day or walk to one of the many nearby shops in Ripon to buy lunch.
